With just a few days left before the start of another whirlwind Fashion Month, we check in with our resident fashion week experts to see what keeps them going. Next up, our trusty CEO, Aslaug Magnusdottir:
What show are you most anxiously anticipating this season? In New York, Prabal Gurung. He is one of the most innovative bright young things in the industry and I find myself dreaming about his designs for days after the runway show. Lucky for me (and you!) I can pre-order the collection off Moda Operandi immediately after the show!
What’s your current gadget of choice? My M’O iPad, of course. It is the most fashion forward accessory.
What’s a fashion week secret you’d only share with M’O? In between shows I love to take a few minutes for the ultimate indulgence: “me” time and a delicious cappuccino from The Smile. I use this time to review what I’ve seen, and re-caffeniate so I am ready for whatever, and wherever my schedule takes me.
How many outfit changes do you foresee making during one show-packed day? In my everyday life, I am all about wearing an outfit that translates flawlessly from day to night, and fashion week is no different. These must-have items will keep me looking impossibly chic from 10 am at the tents to 10 pm at an after-party:
- My Sky High Kirkwood’s are sculpturally stunning, and lucky for me they feel as good as they look.
- The Birkin, perhaps my most coveted vintage piece, it’s also my most practical bag. The perfect size, it fits all of my fashion week necessities, schedule, invitations, ipad, lip glosses, but still manages to look glamorous from day to night.
- A Vintage Rolex. With a watch like this there is no need to be fashionably late, rather fashionably on time.
What’s your Fashion Week mantra? As Andy Warhol says, “So what!” As in, “So What I’m stuck in traffic” – “So What? I have five shows in a row.” Just surrender…
